For four years I worked in various roles at the Khabele School including lead gardening teacher, assist teacher, outdoor educator, and technical director of the school.
From 2009 to 2013 I led K-5 classes in outdoor lessons about agriculture, nutrition, biology, meteorology and mindfulness–with integrated Montessori methods and computer literacy. If you'd like to learn about my school garden design process, here's a presentation I gave at the Austin School Garden Network conference with some of my classrom materials.
I also designed and built three garden classrooms, with the help of both kids and parents. My last design was for the new Brodie campus, and was presented to administration in the form of an animated map. I left before the garden was built, but my replacement is working to make the plan a reality.

I've been building websites since high school, so I when a position opened up I became the technical director for the entire school–managing contractors and coordinating repairs for the schools physical network. I also built a custom Learning Management System (LMS) on Google Apps for education for the high school and middle school. The redesign of khabele.org was also used as a branding and organization exercise by the whole team to work through the merger of Primavera Montessori and The Khabele School.
While designing the website, I also had opportunities to take on graphic design projects for the school. That included designing the annual report as well as promotional event postcards, t-shirts, and letterhead.
